A man has been charged with murder following a fatal town centre stabbing.

Emergency services were called to Brereton Road, Bedford, just before 03:00 GMT on Tuesday.

A man in his 20s, who is not being named by Bedfordshire Police yet, was taken to hospital and died on Wednesday.

Tyreese Kamau, 25, of Rutland Road, Bedford, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Luton Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Det Insp Adam Bridges, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: "We recognise that such events are deeply concerning for the community, and we want to reassure local residents that officers will remain in place at the scene in the coming days as we continue our inquiries.

"We also encourage anyone who believes they may have information that could aid our investigation to come forward and speak to us."
