Man released after pedestrian dies in crash

A man arrested after a pedestrian in his 60s was killed in a crash has been released under investigation.
The 41-year-old from Reading was being held on suspicion of causing death by careless driving following the crash on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot, Berkshire, shortly before 06:40 GMT on Wednesday.
Thames Valley Police said a man struck by a vehicle near the Lidl superstore was pronounced dead at the scene. The force said his next of kin was made aware and were being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.
Officers have urged witnesses and any drivers with dashcam footage to get in touch.
The stretch of the road between Mill Lane and Hogarth Avenue was closed but has since been reopened.
