A plan for up to 99 new homes in a Berkshire village has been dismissed.

Developers Mactaggart and Mickel Strategic Land applied to build the homes on undeveloped land between Lodge Road and Tape Lane in Hurst but Wokingham Borough Council rejected them in November 2024.

The project was again turned down on appeal on Thursday by planning inspector Guy Davies, who said it would have been too big for the village.

Mr Davies said, while there had been some improvements proposed, including a "comprehensive package of transport improvements", the scheme's benefits did not outweigh the concern about its overall size.
