As conference season gets under way for political parties, and major operations are deployed at high-profile national venues, spare a thought for those hosting the Monster Raving Loonies.

Morris dancing, burlesque and a pub tour are among the activities the party will enjoy, according to Robin Oakey, co-owner of The Barn in Ledbury which welcomes those who do not take politics too seriously later this month.

To coincide with the conference, Mr Oakey plans a "barter market" on St Katherine's Square in front of the venue, where people can exchange produce or other items without cash.

The Monster Raving Loony Party will be in town for its conference between September 25 and 27.

The Barn describes itself as an historic, uniquely independent venue, offering an eclectic mix of music, art, free speech and conversation.
