A cafe said it temporarily closed after four staff members were involved in a crash on a country road.
Delicious Desserts in Toddington, Bedfordshire, said one of its team members was in "a critical condition" following the incident on Tuesday evening.
Bedfordshire Police said five people were taken to hospital after two cars collided near the Fancott pub in Luton Road, on the outskirts of the village. Three continued to be treated for serious injuries.
The cafe wrote in a local Facebook group: "We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the kind woman who remained with our staff throughout the incident."
The owner said the woman's kindness had "made a real difference".
"Your reassurance provided great comfort to my nephew, who was conscious and in shock at the time," they added.

The crash happened near the Fancott pub just after 23:15 BST on Tuesday
Delicious Desserts confirmed that two of their employees had been discharged from hospital, while a third had undergone surgery and was "now on the road to recovery".
"The fourth, who was most seriously affected, remains under specialist care at St Mary's Hospital in London," the owner said.
The cafe will reopen on Thursday and it asked people to keep "all those involved, including the other driver who is also in a critical condition, in your thoughts and prayers".
Police have appealed for witnesses, information and dash cam footage.
