The hit DJ bringing bassline back

DJ Denon Reed, from Redditch, was a well known local rapper before starting an events business

A bassline DJ, who has had two tracks in the UK's Official Singles Chart, has said it is "tough" to juggle his music career with a new booming events business.
Denon Reed, from Redditch, was a well known local rapper until he decided to launch his own bassline promotion business, Cru2, in 2023.
The company now holds events for more than 5,000 people across the country.
After starting the business, Reed decided to turn his musical attention to the genre, and has since spent more that 15 weeks in the charts, with his song Let Him Go reaching number 36.
The 23-year-old said he first discovered bassline about 10 years ago, when the genre was particularly popular.
"I guess I've always known about it, I just thought to apply myself to it in recent years and actually have a go," he said
"This once quite prominent genre had its peak around 2007 and 2008, however it subsided.
"I knew there was room for it to come back."
Cru2 have set up bassline events across the country
Due to his success, Reed has now had the chance to collaborate with the original King of bassline, Dizzy Rascal, who was part of a remix of his song I Need to Know.
He said he felt "lucky" to have built a "community" with Cru2.
"In contrast to some other events of the same scale, we don't really rely on paid media or advertisements," he said.
"It's a lot of word of mouth and, obviously, social media.
"It is tough - it is a juggling act, especially with personal life, keeping fit, social life as well."
