Driver critical after lorry crashes though flyover barrier

The lorry crashed through a flyover barrier on the M90 at Craigend near Perth

A lorry driver is in a critical condition after his vehicle crashed through the barrier of a motorway flyover near Perth and landed on the road below.

The crash, involving a white Volvo HGV, happened near Friarton Bridge on the M90 at Craigend.

The driver's cab could be seen on its side, with the trailer upside down on a grass embankment between two carriageways.

The 38-year-old man was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after the accident at about 07:30 on Tuesday.

The road remained closed on Wednesday morning while repairs were carried out.

Police Scotland asked drivers to avoid the area and urged any witnesses to get in touch, external.

Sgt David Farr said: "Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed it who hasn't already spoken to officers to come forward."

In November 2021, a 55-year-old lorry driver was killed after crashing through a flyover barrier in the same area on the M90.
