A man who admitted assaulting a police officer, following a protest outside a hotel thought to be housing asylum seekers, has been sentenced.

Keil Mansfield, 38, of no fixed abode, was arrested after a demonstration outside the Fownes Hotel in Worcester on 20 August.

About 150 people gathered outside the hotel on Clare Street, police said at the time, while an anti-racism counter-demonstration was held opposite.

Mansfield pleaded guilty to the charge at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Monday and was given a four-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months.
