A man has been charged with attempted rape after a woman was sexually assaulted in Leeds.

The woman was attacked on Great Wilson Street in the early hours of Wednesday 18 December as she was walking home from a night out.

West Yorkshire Police said she had been followed from nearby Call Lane before the attack, which happened at a bus stop close to Asda House.

The force said a 27-year-old had been charged in connection with the incident and remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on Monday.
