Witnesses are still being sought after a woman suffered facial injuries when she was assaulted in a Derbyshire town centre.

Derbyshire Police said the woman, who is in her 20s, was taken to hospital following the attack in Nottingham Road, Alfreton, at about 23:40 BST on Friday.

The force originally believed she had been struck with a metal pole but said it had since concluded this was not the case.

Two other people - a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s - were also assaulted.

Officers confirmed none of the injuries were life-threatening but urged anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
