Several arrests were made during a police operation targeting dangerous driving in Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were deployed across Truro, Tregony and Perranporth on Friday following reports of dangerous and anti-social driving in the areas.

The force said two people were arrested for driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and one person was arrested for driving whilst being banned during the operation.

It added three other drivers were caught driving without insurance and another was found to be speeding, with all four reported to court.

Police said officers also carried out high visibility patrols to deter people from using vehicles anti-socially after reports made from residents of Hendra, Malpas, Newham and Threemilestone.

The officer's focus was to identify people purposely making loud noises from engines or music and driving recklessly, police said.

Sgt Dave Pearce said officers would continue to monitor the roads in Cornwall throughout the summer and during the holiday season.

Mr Pearce said: "We will be working to keep you safe and remove dangerous drivers from the roads."
