Cameras are being switched on to enforce traffic restrictions on a primary school's road at drop-off and pick-up times.

The plan for Bassett Green Primary School in Honeysuckle Road, Southampton, means only residents, emergency services and authorised vehicles can drive on the road between Lilac Road and Daisy Road between 08:00 and 09:30 and 14:15 and 15:45.

A £70 Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) could be issued to anyone who breaks those restrictions but, for a six-month period, anyone committing a first breach will receive a warning letter.

The scheme, part of the School Streets, external plan, aims to improve children's safety, cut congestion and improve air quality.
