Medical emergency staged on St Peter Port crane
- Published
Guernsey's ambulance and fire services have taken part in a staged medical emergency on a crane at St Peter Port harbour.
The training exercise tested the response of ambulance and fire services, working with harbour authorities, to perform the safe extrication of a casualty from a crane.
The mock emergency took place on one of the main cranes in the freight compound at 10:00 BST.
Paramedic deputy team leader, Greg Martin, said the training was a success with only "a few learning points".
He said the exercise helped services to prepare for emergency situations.
"It's also good for team spirit, for operational resilience and general experience."
After the exercise there was a debrief where representatives from Guernsey Ports, fire and ambulance discussed the response.
"We were all relatively happy with it, a few learning points but nothing major," he added.
