M1 traffic back to normal after 'damage incident'

National Highways said motorists were facing 90-minute delays
- Published
Traffic on the southbound carriageway of the M1 near Leicester has returned to normal following severe delays earlier this afternoon.
National Highways said at 13:42 BST that drivers faced delays of up to two hours between junctions 21a, near Kirby Muxloe, and 21 at Fosse Park.
This came after three lanes of the motorway were closed while National Highways staff dealt with what they described as an "infrastructure damage incident".
The lanes were reopened following emergency repairs and traffic has returned to normal.
