About £4,000 in cash has been found in a car after its driver ran away following a chase, police have said.
When Greater Manchester Police patrol officers suspected that a car in Bolton on Friday night was cloned and travelling on false registration plates, they signalled to its driver to pull over.
When he failed to stop on Wigan Road, the force's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit pursued the suspect before he abandoned the car and tried to flee on foot.
Officers gave chase and arrested an 18-year-old man shortly afterwards on suspicion of dangerous driving and money laundering. He remains in custody for questioning.
When police searched the car, they found £4,000 in cash and discovered the vehicle was unregistered.
Insp Shafiqur Malik said the arrest "showed a dedicated response by officers to apprehend the suspect and I hope this proves that we are successfully able to track, trace and detain those who are blighting our local communities".
