A flowerbed with more than 14,500 plants has been unveiled in a Jersey park to mark the RNLI's 200th anniversary.

RNLI Jersey said the display has been created in St Saviour's Howard Davis Park by head gardener John Richards as part of the celebrations for the charity.

The display took a week for Mr Richards - whose relatives have volunteered and raised money for the RNLI since the 1890s - to plant, the charity added.

Michelle Cabot, fundraising chair of RNLI Jersey, said the flowerbed was a heartfelt reminder of the charity's history and ongoing legacy of the Richards family.

"The Richards family has been a pillar of strength for RNLI Jersey over the generations," Ms Cabot said.

"Their dedication, whether at sea or through fundraising, embodies the spirit of our mission to save lives," she explained.
