New plans have emerged for homes to be built on the site of a lost community pub which was demolished in 2011.

The Boundary pub in Pilch Lane, Liverpool, was a popular destination, particularly during its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s.

Once called The Boundary Hotel and known in later years as just The Boundary, the ex-pub's land has been subject to a series of planning applications with little coming to fruition.

The new applicant is Preston-based Breck Homes Ltd, which has submitted a full planning application to build 35 new homes on the site.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service said the site, next to St Margaret Mary's Roman Catholic Church, has been vacant for more than 14 years with much local speculation about what might be next for the plot.

Proposals have included various usages including a petrol station with convenience store.

However, the plans were withdrawn after more than 100 objections.

According to a third-party planning report, the new development will haver "100% affordable rented homes" and rear garden access.

Front gardens or verges are also included in the proposals and cited in the report.

Recent posts on the Facebook page British Pubs, external recalled the pub's heyday.

"One of a cluster of pubs in the Dovecot/Knotty Ash/Huyton area now gone. Blue Bell, Yew Tree, Bow and arrow, Eagle and Child, Quiet Man to name a few. Rough at times but full of characters and the heart of the community," said one poster.

Another added: "I went there only once, early 80s. A gang of fellas came in lifted and carried out the still playing jukebox. Ripping the plug out of the wall."
