An inquest has opened into the death of a man in prison, who was jailed for killing an 82-year-old in a racist attack and plotting to bomb mosques.
Pavlo Lapshyn died at HMP Wakefield on 23 September. An inquest was opened and adjourned at the coroners' court for Wakefield and Leeds on Friday.
A date has not yet been set for the full inquest, and the prison service said the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman would also investigate, as is routine for deaths in custody.
The 37-year-old Ukrainian student was serving a life sentence after admitting stabbing Mohammed Saleem in Small Heath, Birmingham, in 2013 and plotting explosions near mosques in Walsall, Tipton and Wolverhampton.
