Festive season shake-up for city bus timetables
- Published
Bus services around Leicester will be changing timetables over the holiday season.
Operators which run bus services in the city have all made changes to accommodate the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.
And the city's Park and Ride sites are also affected, with no services on Christmas Day, 26 December and New Year's Day.
In addition, the national £2 cap on bus journeys will end on 31 December, with a new £3 cap instead throughout 2025.
Changes to Leicester timetables start from Monday 23 December when Arriva services in Leicestershire will operate to a Saturday service.
On Christmas Eve Arriva will again be running a Saturday service.
Early finishes on services across the city will begin from 18:00 GMT on First Bus and from 19:00 on other operators' routes.
There will be no buses running on Christmas Day or Boxing, with the exception of the Skylink which will operate a Sunday service from 04:25 on 26 December.
On 27 December, the 22B will not be running but the HH, 162, 81 and 83/A routes will operate as usual on this Friday, while other services will run a Saturday service.
After a normal weekend's timetables, Monday 30 December will again see the 22B not running, and a Saturday service for all routes apart from the HH, 162, 81 and 83/A routes which will operate as usual for a weekday.
New Year's Eve will be a Saturday service on all routes, with early finishes from 18:00 apart from the Skylink, which will run until 02:55 into New Year's Day.
No normal bus routes will operate on 1 January however.
Normal timetables return from 2 January apart from Arriva, which will run a Saturday service on the Thursday and Friday and return to normal timetables from Saturday 4 January.
Exact timetables including early finishes can be sought from individual bus operators, said Leicester Buses.
