Road named in memory of former mayor

A street on a town's new development will be named in memory of its former mayor.
Bet Tickner, who died in January, was mayor of Reading in Berkshire between 2006 - 2007.
Reading borough councillors unanimously approved the idea, which will see one of the roads on the site of the old SSE power station, external named Bet Tickner Way.
She was previously described by colleagues as a "hardworking" person who had cared about the area and her constituents.
The site, located on the south bank of the River Thames, is set to be demolished to make way for 209 apartments in eight new buildings.
Members of the council's planning committee had suggested the commemorative name for one of its roads.
At a meeting where the name of the future street was selected, councillor Richard Davies said: “I’m really pleased that we are able to honour our former colleague and mayor in this way.”
Councillor Karen Rowland said she had informed Ms Tickner's son Paul who thought his mother would have been "delighted and honoured".
Electric Avenue and Albury Way had previously been suggested as names for the street by the developer, Berkeley Homes.
But Mr Davies asked for the name to be changed to honour Ms Tickner, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).
