Tribute to 'kind' grandfather killed in bike crash

A family has paid tribute to a “loving father and grandfather” who died following a collision involving his motorbike.

Paul Istead, 53, was riding a black Kawasaki that was involved in a crash with a silver Ford Focus and a blue Mazda CX-3 on the A1198 at the Papworth Everard bypass in Cambridgeshire on 19 June.

Mr Istead, from Whittlesey near Peterborough died at the scene.

His wife Sarah has paid tribute on behalf of the family describing the father of four and grandfather of seven as "a quiet, kind man" who was "sadly missed and loved by many".

Another motorcyclist travelling with him on a blue Yahama was not injured.

The drivers of the Ford and the Mazda were not seriously injured, and they remained at the scene and assisted with the investigation, Cambridgeshire Police said.

In a statement, his wife added: “He was a great friend and employee... [who] would always help anyone in need.

“We had 30 years of the deepest love together and the happiest marriage of 27 years. A true partnership.

"Paul gave me the experience of being deeply understood, truly supported and utterly loved.

"My world from now may change year to year, my life day to day, but the love and the memory of him shall never pass away - and I shall carry that with me always."
