What have been the big stories in the West this week?
Danny Kruger, the MP for East Wiltshire, announced his defection from the Conservatives to Reform UK, external on Monday. There was mixed reaction to the news in his constituency, with some calling for a by-election.
The Birnbeck Pier restoration project was saved after The National Lottery Heritage Fund stepped in to fill a £5.5m funding gap, external. North Somerset councillors voted unanimously on Tuesday to proceed with the project again.
Travelling around Bristol proved difficult for many people this week as hundreds of First Bus drivers walked out for four days over a pay dispute, external. Throughout the strike, services around the city - including the Airport Flyer - were severely delayed.
On Thursday - while the strike was still ongoing - the Unite Union announced that drivers voted to take further action from 1-14 October, external after talks between the employer and the union broke down.
