Man dies after being hit by lorry on M54

A man has died after being hit by a lorry on the M54.

The incident happened on the westbound carriageway near junction one at Featherstone, Staffordshire, shortly before 09:30 GMT on Thursday.

Paramedics found the pedestrian in a critical condition and gave him advanced life support.

But West Midlands Ambulance Service said he was confirmed dead at the scene.

The carriageway was closed while police carried out investigations, causing delays in the area.

National Highways confirmed the route was reopened shortly before 13:30 GMT.
