A man has been jailed for more than six years for attempting to rob a pensioner on a mobility scooter, who used a walking stick to fend off his attacker.
Jason Bickford, 42, of Honington Approach, Lincoln, pulled at the bag of the 70-year-old man as he was driving along Baggholme Road on the evening of 13 August last year.
The victim fell from his scooter and suffered life-changing injuries. While he was lying on the ground, Bickford punched him.
But he used a walking stick to fend him off, and Bickford left with nothing.
Lincolnshire Police was alerted by East Midlands Ambulance Service to the attack.
Officers subsequently combed through CCTV footage and identified Bickford, who was arrested on 26 August.
Bickford, who pleaded guilty on 25 July to attempted robbery, was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on 8 August to six years and one month in prison.
Det Con Claire Rose said "justice has been served" and the victim was now "looking forward to putting this behind him and living his new life as best he can".
