Motorists face delays on A30 after car fire

Motorists are being told to expect delays on the A30 in Cornwall after a car fire.

National Highways had closed the road between Carland Cross and Chiverton Cross.

It said it had since reopened but there were ongoing delays.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said two crews were sent to the scene at about 09:20 GMT.

Devon and Cornwall Police said no-one was injured in the fire and the car has been removed.

Further disruption is expected from 20:00 GMT when the road is due to shut for weekend roadworks.

The road, which will close between Scorrier and Boxheater, is expected to reopen at 06:00 GMT on Monday.

The closure is part of a major scheme to dual the road, external between Carland Cross and Chiverton.
