A woman sustained serious injuries when she was struck by a car at a hospital entrance in Nottinghamshire.
Nottinghamshire Police said the woman, in her 60s, was hit by the car at the drop-off area of King's Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield at about 11:40 GMT on Monday.
No arrests have been made, and the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene to speak to officers, the force added.
Detectives are appealing for people who saw what happened or have dashcam footage to come forward.
Det Con Liah Lane, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and the pedestrian involved remains in hospital with serious injuries.
"Services at the hospital are not affected by the incident and I'd like to thank staff and visitors for their cooperation and patience while our investigations took place."
