Arrest after man hurt in suspected hit and run

A man riding a mountain bike has been seriously injured after being struck by a car in a suspected hit and run collision on Merseyside.
Witnesses described seeing the victim receiving emergency first aid close to the junction of Tarbock Road and Manley Road in Huyton after it happened at 12:20 GMT.
The driver fled the scene and Merseyside Police said an abandoned car believed to have been involved was later found on Greenfield Drive.
A 34-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested, the force said.

Forensic investigators in white protective suits were at the scene and a blue tent was put up around the crash site.
No update has been given on the condition of the victim, who was riding a blue mountain bike.
Insp Jason Higham, from the force's roads policing unit, urged anyone with information or video footage of the crash to come forward.
"Any small detail could be vital in assisting our investigation and could help us to provide answers as to how this collision has occurred," he said.
Road closures remain in place while investigations continue.
