Suffolk Police said the woman, in her 30s, was on a path off Iliffe Way, in Stowmarket, between 05:45 and 06:00 GMT on 19 November, when she was approached and sexually assaulted by an unknown man.
Officers said a 38-year-old man who had been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and attempted rape had been eliminated from their inquiries.
The force appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 10in (1.8m) tall, of medium build and he was wearing a dark woolly beanie hat.
He also wore a thick, dark rain jacket and dark trousers, and is reported to have smelled strongly of cigarettes and cannabis, police said.
