A woman convicted of modern slavery offences bullied her victim into carrying out sex work and stealing from shops.

Anna Stukova was found guilty of 13 offences at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday following an almost two-year "campaign of exploitation" against another woman.

From January 2023 to November 2024, the 30-year-old also stole from the victim, "beat her up" on several occasions, told her she would kill her and threatened her with a bladed object, Staffordshire Police said.

Stukova, from Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, was remanded in custody. She is due to be sentenced at the same court on 8 December.

She was found guilty of the following offences:

  • Two counts of requiring a person to perform forced or compulsory labour

  • Causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent

  • Threatening a person with a blade/sharply pointed article in a public place

  • Two counts of assault by beating

  • Two counts of assaulting a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm

  • Three counts of intimidating a witness/juror

  • Two counts of theft

Stukova also pleaded guilty to an additional count of burglary during a hearing before the trial.

Det Con Jennie Holland, of Staffordshire Police, said the force was "proud" to support the victim in the case and praised her for showing "immense bravery".
