A cash machine containing about £30,000 has been stolen from a Co-op during a ram-raid.

Police were called to Perne Road in Cambridge at about 00:36 BST.

A black Mitsubishi L200 had been driven into the front of the shop and five people left the scene in a hatchback with the cash machine, Cambridgeshire Police said.

No arrests had been made, but the force said an inquiry was ongoing and officers appealed for more information.

A large police cordon has sectioned off the front of the coop and includes the black car - believed to have been involved in the ram raid. At the back of the car are thick red straps hanging off the back. The front of the shop has been smashed and there is glass on the floor. The shutters have been hit and pushed inwards, leaving the entrance to the hop wide open.Image source, David Webster/BBC
