Monsters have invaded the rooftops of a much-loved seaside resort to help celebrate Halloween.

The 10 giant inflatable creatures have been installed to form a free monster hunt trail in Blackpool, which runs until 3 November.

Bezerker, Chomper, Octoplasm, Howler and Sick Jagger have popped up on the rooftops along the Golden Mile and in the town centre.

The trail has been put together by inflatable arts firm Designs In Air, which has previously created similar displays in Manchester, Lincoln and Bradford.

Creative director Luke Egan said the hope was that "everyone gets a chance to see our colourful creatures who will be invading rooftops all along the Golden Mile and nearby town centre to join in the Halloween events this year".

"Last year, our tentacles went wild in the sea breeze on top of Blackpool Tower and this Halloween you can expect even more wild-eyed, monstrous, arm-waving hysteria - and that's just from our team," he added.

The monster hunt has been funded and supported by the government through its Shared Prosperity Fund.
