A man has been jailed after committing 18 sexual offences against two children.

Danny McNaughton, 38, of Wellington Street in Grimsby, was sentenced to 14 years in prison at Grimsby Crown Court on 19 December.

He was found guilty of four counts of rape of a child, six counts of sexual activity with a child, three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, four counts of penetrative sexual activity with a child and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Det Con Paula Barden from Humberside Police's Protecting Vulnerable People Unit praised the victims and their families for "their bravery in coming forward and helping to put this evil man behind bars."

The jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on all of the charges.

Det Con Paula Barden said: "Whilst McNaughton pleaded guilty to seven of the offences, he pleaded not guilty to 11 further charges, putting the two victims, and their family, through the horrific ordeal of a five-day trial.

"We take reports of sexual assault and sexual offences incredibly seriously and will continue to seek prosecution against anybody who thinks it is OK to commit these types of offences."
