Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was mugged in Leicester.

The man, 42, was approached from behind by two other men as he walked on to Kate Street from King Richards Road just after 16:00 GMT on Thursday, Leicestershire Police said.

A suspect assaulted the man "with a slab or brick" while another held him by his neck, before they both made off with a quantity of cash, the force said.

Police have urged a woman who they believe stopped at the scene and witnessed what happened to get in touch, and confirmed the victim was treated for "minor injuries".

The appeal also asked any other witnesses to contact the force.
