Mercury-prize winning jazz quintet Ezra Collective will headline the BBC 6 Music Festival alongside Scottish post-rock band Mogwai and rapper-writer Kae Tempest.

The full line-up for the 2025 event has been unveiled, with English Teacher, Perfume Genius, and Fat Dog also set to perform.

Live shows and DJ sets are to take place in venues across Greater Manchester between 26 and 29 March for the station's flagship annual festival.

In a statement Ezra Collective, who were first played on BBC Radio 6 in 2016, said it was a "deep honour" to headline the festival after that "precious moment".

Each of the festival's three headline performers will take to the stage with their support acts at Victoria Warehouse in Trafford, Greater Manchester.

Ezra Collective will appear on Thursday 27 March with a performance that "celebrates the importance of youth clubs across the country", a festival spokesperson said.

Mogwai are to play the next night in a show where they will collaborate with Stockport brass band KNDS Fairey Acid Brass, before Kae Tempest takes to the stage to premiere their new album.

Other events include a BBC Introducing night at YES on Charles Street in Manchester on 26 March, as well as nights focused on new, indie and rave music as well as 'morning after' presented by Manchester-based DJ AFRODEUTSCHE.

Live music and interviews from the shows will be played on 6 Music throughout, with presenter including Lauren Laverne, Craig Charles and others set to broadcast live from Greater Manchester over the festival.

A dedicated channel will also be launched on BBC iPlayer on 17 March to cover the festival and revisit highlights from previous years.

Samantha Moy, head of BBC Radio 6 Music, said: "It's a joy to host a live experience that reflects the breadth of music we play around the clock on our station and to celebrate the region that it's rooted in."

Tickets for each event at the festival go on sale on Thursday.
