A blaze that tore through a derelict pub is believed to have been started deliberately, a fire service has said.

Investigators are still trying to determine the exact cause of the fire at the Farriers Arms on Bristol's Fishponds Road, Avon Fire and Rescue Service said.

Thirty firefighters were called to tackle the blaze on Friday 20 June at 19:30 BST.

They used five fire appliances, water jets, hose reels, and a turntable ladder to stop the flames from outside the pub.

Significant amounts of smoke and fumes were generated by the fire, causing officials to ask the public to keep windows and doors shut at the time.
