The speed limit in a Herefordshire village is to be cut from 50mph to 40mph.

The limit will be changed on the main A449 through Much Marcle near Ledbury.

The total cost of the work will be about £12,000, according to Herefordshire Council.

The move comes following representations made by the local councillor and a member of the public via the area's MP Sir Bill Wiggin, the record of the council’s decision, external explains.

Council officers inspected the stretch in November 2022.

No objections were raised to the plan during consultations with the police, Much Marcle parish council and local residents last year.,

The council has also decided to extend the village’s 30mph zone for 300 metres on the lane to Kempley, south from the B4024.

The estimated cost includes consultation, paperwork, advertising as well as the signs and road markings.
