A number of government promotions and appointments have been made by Jersey's Chief Minister, Deputy Kristina Moore.

Constable Simon Crowcroft, who currently looks after the parish of St Helier, will become her assistant chief minister.

Deputy Malcolm Ferey will join the States Employment Board, "where his wealth of experience in employment matters will be of great benefit", said Ms Moore.

Deputy Elaine Millar will be proposed as its vice chairman, pending confirmation by the board itself.

Constable Andy Jehan resigned as assistant chief minister over the weekend, due to "severe concerns" with taxpayers' money being spent in the health service.

Ms Moore said it was with "great regret and sadness" to accept Mr Jehan's resignation.

'Brings further experience'

The chief minister has also consented to the appointment of Deputy Philip Ozouf as the assistant minister for health and social services.

Ms Moore said his appointment "brings further valuable experience to the Council of Ministers and will ensure that sustainable regeneration, particularly in St Helier, home to one-third of Jersey’s population, continues to be a priority area of focus".

She added: "We are boosting the ministerial team in health to support our work to deliver the necessary service improvements and greater efficiency, as well as to explore opportunities for joint working with Guernsey."
