An "extremely violent bully" has admitted murder as well as a string of horrific attacks.

Roy Deeley-Price was left to die on Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton, in May 2023 after being attacked and stamped on by Carl Ellitts.

Ellitts, 26, was found guilty of raping two women after a trial at the city's crown court.

He admitted three robberies and an assault with intention to rob and will be sentenced on 5 February.

Ellitts had committed a string of offences against vulnerable people in Wolverhampton before attacking Mr Deeley Price, said West Midlands Police.

He was an "extremely violent bully," stated Det Insp Damian Forrest.

Ellitts approached Mr Deeley-Price on 28 May as he went to a petrol station on Tettenhall Road.

Police said CCTV showed the pair in conversation on the forecourt and then seen "grappling" before Ellitts tripped Mr Deeley-Price over and held to him the ground by this throat.

Mr Deeley-Price, described as a loving father, was stamped unconscious before being dragged into a bush and attacked again. His body was found the next morning.

A post-mortem showed he had sustained multiple blunt force injuries to his face and head.

Carl Ellitts had robbed people and raped two women in the days before murdering Mr Deeley-Price

Before the murder Ellitts had gone on a "violent four-day rampage" which police were able to piece together by CCTV.

Druing the early hours of 26 May he raped a woman after she approached him in St Peter's Square.

Later that day he was approached by a man concerned he was not wearing any shoes. Ellits demanded his bank card and pin and the man handed over money after being taken to a bank in Wednesfield.

That evening he attacked and raped a second woman who approached him as she was concerned he was homeless.

On 27 May he carried out another robbery grabbing a victim's bag and dragging him along the floor.

The next day he approached a man who had just withdrawn some money from a cashpoint in St Martin's Square and threatened him with a bladed weapon. The victim managed to push him away.

That afternoon he targeted another victim on the Tettenhall Road kicking him to the floor, and putting a broken glass to his face. He then removed the victim’s Nike trainers from his feet.

He was arrested on 30 May after an appeal and help from the community.

Det Insp Damian Forrest said: “We are delighted with the verdict."

"Although this will never bring Roy back and it will not heal the family’s sense of loss, I hope securing convictions on all counts with sentencing to come will be justice."
