Drivers are being warned by a fire service to turn around if they see a flooded road after a woman had to be rescued from inside a car.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at about 05:48 GMT to assist a woman in trouble on Bullford Lane in Black Notley.

Specially trained water rescue firefighters managed to get to her and brought her to safety.

Pete Donovan, station manager, said driving through floodwater "isn't worth the risk to your life or your vehicle".

"If you come across a flooded road, please don't take any chances, turn around and find another route," he added.
