A bus service between Mansfield and Nottingham has been expanded.

Nottinghamshire County Council said the Pronto service extension was partly funded by its bus service improvement programme.

Buses now run from Nottingham to Mansfield until 00:10 from Monday to Friday, with services going in the other direction departing until 23:20.

An extension that sees buses go on to Chesterfield also run later into the night.

Previously the last Pronto bus from Mansfield to Nottingham on weekdays left at 21:20, while the final service in the opposite direction departed at 22:10.

Neil Clarke, county council cabinet member for transport and environment, said the services would be capped at £2 a journey due to the government extending the fare price cap until 31 December.

He said the council is "confident" a later Pronto service, which began on 28 July, "will be a hit" and "offer a boost to Mansfield and Nottingham’s evening economies".
