England cricketer's home and cars hit in two attacks
Police are investigating two incidents of criminal damage at the home of England cricketer James Vince.
The Hampshire captain's property, near Southampton, was targeted in the early hours of 15 April and 11 May.
On both occasions two cars were damaged and the front room windows were smashed.
Vince, 33, told The Telegraph,, external he believed the attacks were a case of mistaken identity.
Man who tortured deer seen 'laughing' in police interview
The RSPCA has said it is braced for an animal welfare crisis this summer after reporting a jump in cruelty in the first half of 2024.
The charity said it got 44,800 reports of cruelty across England and Wales between January and the end of June - up by nearly 1,000 compared to the same period last year.
In January, two Hampshire brothers who filmed themselves as they tortured animals in “sickening” attacks were jailed.
In footage not seen publicly before, Kristen Cooper, then 24, was seen laughing about inflicting pain on a deer during a police interview.
Gas leak near industrial park closes roads
Road closures put in place after a leak was discovered coming from a gas pipeline were lifted after it was made safe.
The leak was found in a field off Rudd Lane in Timsbury, near Romsey, on Tuesday afternoon.
Gas company SGN said its engineers had reduced the pressure in the pipeline and isolated the damaged section of pipe.
Island landslip site road to open for summer
A road shut after a landslip on the Isle of Wight in December will reopen for the summer holidays.
Leeson Road at Bonchurch, near Ventnor, has been closed since chunks of the cliff came away, leaving some homes perilously close to the edge.
Isle of Wight Council said it would open as a single lane with traffic lights for the summer and will close again on 8 September.
Rowdy seagull surprises chimney sweep
A chimney sweep was met with surprise when he "battled" a seagull after it became stuck in a disused chimney flue.
Neil Jarrett, 48, filmed the moment the "rambunctious" bird dropped into a fireplace, before flapping its wings in a panic.
Mr Jarrett said he had received a phone call on Wednesday from a concerned resident in Alverstoke, Gosport, after she noticed feathers falling from her unused chimney.
