Ambulance driver dies in Faversham lorry crash

The driver of a private ambulance has been killed in a crash involving a lorry.

The collision happened on the A251 Ashford Road in Faversham, Kent, near the slip road for the London-bound carriageway of the M2, at about 14:20 GMT on Thursday.

The man, who was in his 50s, was driving a grey Ford Transit ambulance which was travelling along the A251 towards Faversham when it crashed with a DAF lorry being driven in the opposite direction, Kent Police said.

The force added: "Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where the driver of the Ford Transit van was confirmed deceased.

"His next of kin have been informed."

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
