Two applications for campsites were rejected by the council

Planning applications for two caravan pitches in West Sussex have been turned down.

Chichester District Council rejected plans for the sites near Beachlands Nursery, West Ashling, and Rownberts, in Woodmancote Lane, Woodmancote.

This was despite council officers recommending they be approved.

A third application for one mobile home, one touring caravan, and one day-room on Monks Hill, Westbourne, was approved.

The West Ashling application was voted down after concerns were raised by councillors about the growing size of camping pitches on the area, with 11 already sited there, reports the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

The Woodmancote application was thrown out on the grounds that the site was an unsustainable location and would have an adverse impact on the landscape.
