More than 50 charities to take part in Children's Day

The event will include free activities, performances and safeguarding chats at Howard Davis Park

More than 50 charities are set to take part in the annual Children's Day.

The day, which about 7,000 people attended last year, will take place once again at Howard Davis Park - celebrating children and young people and "advocating for their well-being and rights".

The event will include free activities, face painting, performances from youth performers and safeguarding chats with NSPCC Jersey and the Safeguarding Partnership Board.

Constable Richard Vibert, the Minister for Children and Families, said the event was a "wonderful opportunity to show our appreciation for the young people in our community".

He said: "It is a day to celebrate their achievements, support their aspirations and ensure their voices are heard.

"We are committed to creating an environment where every child in Jersey can thrive."

'Keep children safe'

Katherine McGovern, Partnership Service Manager at NSPCC Jersey, said it would welcome support and opinion from parents.

She said: "We have fun activities planned as well as appearances from our friendly dinosaur Pantosaurus throughout the day.

"We hope children, parents and carers will come to see us and chat about how we can keep more children safe, both on and offline."

A quiet hour between 10:00 and 11:00 BST will be held for children and young people who would prefer a less crowded environment.

The event will take place on Sunday 7 July between 11:00 and 17:00 BST.
