A councillor who has seen two of her cars destroyed in suspected arson attacks has blamed it on an argument over parking.

Thames Valley Police has appealed for witnesses to the latest incident, which took place in Ford Street, High Wycombe at about 22:35 BST on 23 May.

The force says an accelerant was used to set the vehicle alight and believes it is linked to another car fire at the same address on 20 December.

Buckinghamshire councillor Lesley Clarke said the incidents followed a recent dispute about local parking enforcement.

She said: "I got a bee in my bonnet about cars parking on the road that either haven't got an MOT or are parked on double yellow lines and never get a ticket.

"In my ward, I have roads where this happens, including the road I live."

Before both fires, fixed penalty notices had been issued to some drivers on the street, she added.

"I can't see any other reason, we don't know what it is, we haven't had any notes through the door or been emailed."

The councillor was at home with her husband when they heard a noise "that sounded like a car accident" and went outside to find their five-year-old Lexus UX on fire on the driveway.

A second Lexus UX was destroyed by fire at the address five months later.

The 73-year-old said: "It's frightening, it's terrifying."

Police have asked anybody with dashcam or CCTV video from the area to check recordings to see if any relevant footage has been captured.
