A number of MHKs have moved departments in the Isle of Man government as part of a mid-term reshuffle.

Chief Minister Alfred Cannan said it would "refresh the political line-up" and bring "renewed energy".

Among the changes, Michelle Haywood has moved into Treasury with Sarah Maltby moving to the Department for Enterprise.

Mr Cannan said the moves aimed to "broaden" members' experience and help them to "contribute in other parts of government".

The moves come after Julie Edge was replaced by Daphne Caine as the minister for the Department of Education, Sport and Culture (Desc) following this year's budget announcement.

'Renewed energy'

Ms Maltby, leaving Treasury, joins Desc and the Department for Enterprise.

She takes over the specific responsibility for Visit Isle of Man and Motorsport, previously occupied by Ms Caine.

Ms Maltby said she was "looking forward to being involved in delivering against the TT strategy to ensure we have the supporting infrastructure in place to continue to deliver the greatest motorcycle event in the world".

Meanwhile, Chris Thomas is also set to become the vice chair of the island's Office of Fair Trading, subject to Tynwald approval.

Mr Cannan said the changes would "refresh the political line-up in departments and bring renewed energy as we continue our work to deliver our island plan".

“I believe it is important that Tynwald members build a broad and rounded understanding of policy areas and public services," he added.
