Town centre's £3m revamp completion date delayed

A multimillion-pound town centre revamp is now expected to be complete by November.
Leominster town centre received more than £3m of funding from Historic England and Herefordshire County Council to renew the market town's high street.
The works were originally intended to be completed in September, but delays due to drainage and sourcing of materials means have delayed the date, the council said.
Councillor Phillip Price said they were "committed to doing the job thoroughly and with the long-term in mind".
Due to this, he added, defects found during the works had to be fixed rather than left.
"Once finished, the enhancements will be beautiful and be a boost to the aesthetics and accessibility of the town centre that will bring benefits to local people and businesses for years to come," Mr Price said.
The Leominster scheme was awarded £1.3m Historic England grant funding, and £2,185,500 of funding from Herefordshire Council.
The investment, the local authority said, had already transformed buildings with improvements to structure.
It added it was aware of inconveniences due to the delays, and implemented a number of measures to help provide a boost to local businesses.
From 7 August two hours of free parking in Etnam Street Car Park for the duration of the improvement work will be offered.
Herefordshire Council said it would provide funding to support the promotion of events and festivals in Leominster.
The council will meet with residents and businesses on Tuesday at Grange Court from 17:30 BST to discuss any concerns about the development scheme.
