Boy, 16, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A fifth person has been arrested after police launched an attempted murder investigation following a stabbing.

A 19-year-old woman was found with potentially life-changing injuries on Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, shortly before 04:00 BST on Monday.

On Thursday, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been released on bail until 18 July.

Three men and a woman from Southend had previously been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and have since been released on bail.
