A number of people have been arrested after protests took place in Nottingham city centre on Saturday.
Hundreds of people from two groups gathered near the Brian Clough statue on King Street.
Nottinghamshire Police officers stood in between the opposing sides to keep them apart.
The BBC witnessed some of the demonstrators being detained by police, and a force spokesman said a statement will be released once the protests have dispersed.
Protests have been taking place in several cities across the UK over the weekend, which follows unrest in the wake of the Southport stabbings on Monday.
In Nottingham, hundreds of people congregated in the area throughout the afternoon.
Witnesses reported seeing minor disturbances, including items being thrown from both sides.
A number of shops and businesses closed their doors as a precaution.
The wider city centre away from Old Market Square was largely unaffected by the protests.
