A man has been jailed after pleading guilty to attempting to murder his neighbour.

West Mercia Police said Bryan Robson, 50, stabbed the man at a property on Moorfield Street in Hereford in October.

They said the 42-year-old victim was airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, spending four weeks there and undergoing surgery.

Robson, of Moorfield Street, was jailed for 21 years and 9 months at Worcester Crown Court on Friday.

Officers said they were called to the address on the afternoon of 9 October.

They found the victim with multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and arms, as well as a three-inch knife.

"This was a brutal attack which left a man critically injured," said Det Insp Catherine Taylor.

"We would like to reassure our communities that violence like this is rare, and that this was an isolated incident."
